Glasgow 2017 took place as planned from April 11th to 14th 2017. Over 50 skaters took part and the results were calculated using the world ranking system.  The new Synchro group and team and free dance events were very popular.

Glasgow 2017 – Inclusive Skating Event Announcment

We are delighted to issue the Announcement for Glasgow 2017. This is  planned for  April 11th to 14th 2017 at Braehead, Glasgow.  The event will include the British Inclusive Skating Championships, the first IS for Genes National Championships and the first pilot World championship. There are lots of new events!

Special Olympics March 2017 World Winter Games

Special Olympics March 2017 World Winter Games

Special Olympics GB selected 10 skaters for the Special Olympics Winter Games held in Austria in March 2017. Margarita Sweeney-Baird, represented Inclusive Skating and Special Olympics GB as an Honoured Guest.

Inclusive Skating founded the Special Olympics GB National Figure Skating and Speed Skating Competitions in 2012 and these have become a fixture within Inclusive Skating events. So we are very proud of our Special Olympics skaters who won 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze in Austria.

Special Olympics Vienna International 2014

Special Olympics Europe and Asia held an International Competition in Vienna from April 4 to 6 2014. The team from Great Britain all performed brilliantly and we are proud to report that Calum Titmus was first in Level 3, Cameron Sargent was 2nd at level 2 and Megan Macfarlane was 4th at Level 1 girls. Well done to the whole team!

Glasgow 2017

Over 50 skaters took part in Glasgow 2017. This was our 7th event and it included the British Inclusive Skating Championships and the inaugural Inclusive Skating for Genes British Championships. The results were adjusted and equalised for time and the number of elements using the world ranking system. The new Synchro group and team and free dance events were very popular too.

Inclusive Skating – our new name

Inclusive Skating, formerly known as Impaired Skating, has achieved many of its goals. Skater’s with disability and impairment are now included in competition and inclusion is being supported by the National Ice Skating Association, so we are changing our name to Inclusive Skating.

A competition system for the inclusion of skaters with all forms of disability and impairment has been created and implemented at the Dumfries Event in 2012 and 2013. A fantastic achievement for a charity that has only been ...
